From the moment I was six and walked into Miss Bennett's kindergarten class, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. I graduated from Stockton State College with a BA in Sociology and a K - 12 teaching certificate. After moving to Colorado, my professional path took a few side trips but my ultimate goal remained the same, coming to fruition when I was a home day care provider and complimented that with a small, in-home preschool program. In 1993, I met Jan Ferrari and partnered with her to open The Louisville Preschool. I took over the director position in 1999 while remaining in the classroom, where my passions truly lie. I am energized by children as they explore and discover the world, fueled by their questions, and dedicated to helping them find strategies that will allow them to become life-long learners. I also love that the relationship I build with children and their families continues well beyond our preschool days together.
I love being a teacher of young children. I was born in Boulder, Colorado and through the experiences of playing with my younger cousins and a career week experience at an established Boulder preschool, I began my journey as an Early Childhood Teacher. I have a Child Development Associates Certificate from Front Range Community College. I was introduced to Louisville Preschool when my daughter attended in 1995, and then returned as a Teacher and Assistant Director in 2008. It is a joy that I find myself at Louisville Preschool, still playing and learning along with the groups of children each year. Every day is a treasure!
Coming from a family of educators, my love of teaching has been with me since I was a young child. I went to school at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire where I earned my Bachelors and Education degree with an emphasis in K-6th grades and a minor in Interpersonal Communication. I moved to the Denver area in 1991 and started teaching Pre-K followed by a long term substitute position with Kindergartners and then on to a First Grade teaching position. I stepped away to raise my three children but remained close to teaching. In 2012, I was introduced to Louisville Preschool with my third child and joined the teaching team in 2015. I treasure every moment I help kids learn and grow; being with children fills my soul with joy.

I have always been drawn to the field of education, and knew from a very early age that being a teacher was going to be a part of my future. I attended University of California, Irvine and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Social Behavior. I have over 11 years of teaching experience as an Elementary and High School Teacher, including a diverse background in Special Education. My love and appreciation for The Louisville Preschool started as a parent in 2014 and started as a Teacher in 2015. The Louisville Preschool truly nurtures every child and celebrates the talents of each preschooler that walks through its doors. I believe that learning possibilities are endless, and I love watching each child learn and grow through creative exploration and positive play experiences. I am honored to be a part of The Louisville Preschool’s extraordinary team of educators and families!
Working with children brings me great joy and has been a big part of my life since I was in high school. As a native of Boulder, Colorado, I have taught within various programs including YMCA, Headstart, music camps, church camps, and Boulder area preschools. I am an Early Childhood Music Teacher with a background in music therapy. I started my partnership with Louisville Preschool in 2011 as a music enrichment specialist and began teaching in the classroom in 2019. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and am continuing my education in the field of Early Childhood Education. I love being able to blend the joy of music and learning to enrich lives in the classroom.
